{"id":1059,"date":"2011-06-17T12:14:54","date_gmt":"2011-06-17T18:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greenmonstermovement.com\/?p=1059"},"modified":"2011-06-17T12:14:54","modified_gmt":"2011-06-17T18:14:54","slug":"rubys-green-monster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenmonstermovement.com\/?p=1059","title":{"rendered":"Ruby&#8217;s Green Monster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1060\" title=\"GreenMonstor-030\" src=\"http:\/\/greenmonstermovement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/GreenMonstor-030-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"GreenMonstor-030\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greenmonstermovement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/GreenMonstor-030-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/greenmonstermovement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/GreenMonstor-030-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Perhaps my most oft-advised piece of food frugality wisdom is using what you have already in the fridge to cook what you &#8220;want&#8221; to eat.\u00a0 This can also be re-hashed as buying what&#8217;s on sale and cooking with that instead of choosing the recipe first then purchasing the ingredients later.\u00a0 Additionally, another element of frugality is using what you have around before it spoils.\u00a0 At any rate, I remind you of this because recently my local store flier had both yogurt quarts and spinach bags (large) on sale.\u00a0 They are both good individually of course, but like anything that has to be bought in larger quantities &#8211; it&#8217;s tough to down it before it spoils.\u00a0 Even with my recent vigilance about eating in &#8211; I was beginning to get frantic about the impending spoilage time line.<\/p>\n<p>On an entirely different note, I really like those Naked Green Machine Drinks&#8230; but they are not budget friendly.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve justified with Costco coupons, sales and the occasional treat, but for the most part I exercise resistance.\u00a0 Anyway &#8211; my love of those peaked my interest in something I had browsed over on a friends blog not that long ago.<\/p>\n<p>THE GREEN MONSTER&#8230; dun dun dun!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the Green Monster is not only a drink it&#8217;s a movement.\u00a0 A drink that is made up of Spinach and basically whatever else you want (best I can tell from the example recipes).\u00a0 In this case yogurt was include.\u00a0 So onto my very own recipe experimentation (this is a food blog after all).<\/p>\n<p>Ruby Leigh&#8217;s Green Monster Trial #1<br \/>\n-1 Cup Spinach, not tightly packed<br \/>\n-Just a bit of Chopped Carrot<br \/>\n-Just a bit of Diced Cucumber<br \/>\n-Whole Apple Diced (and cored)<br \/>\n-1\/4 cup Yogurt<br \/>\n-2 Tbs water<br \/>\n-1 tsp Flaxseed oil<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients are listed in the order that I dumped them into the Magic Bullet Mug.\u00a0 Once in, you blend, shake a little, and blend some more.\u00a0 If you use a rather large apple and a rather small blender (as I did), everything may not fit in at the start.
