Alex‘s Green Monster:

Just thought I’d hop on the bandwagon and write a little ditty about my love affair with the swamp juice! I’ve always been a smoothie lover, but perhaps not the most healthy kind (McFlurries = smoothies… right?). I stumbled on Green Monsters through a blog of a blog of a blog… (that’s how I find everything these days!) and thought I would try it. Spinach? Harmless enough- I wolfed it down in salads, how bad could it be in a smoothie? I’ve tinkered with it a bit here and there, but finally have a recipe that I rock in the Magic Bullet (an appliance I stole from my mother specifically for GMs) every morning.

It is a struggle to fit all the delish ingredients in that little thing, but each morning, I cram in: 1 cup of almond milk, 1 scoop North Coast Naturals vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup of blueberries,  about 1 banana sliced up and frozen, a healthy glob of peanut butter, all natural, and about 2 cups of spinach (as much as I can fit before the thing overflows!)Yum!

Everyone at work is verrrrry skeptical. I spilled it on my desk one day and  the IT guy in my office looked at it like it was some odd creature. They don’t believe me when I say it tastes good!

The picture above my frozen naners, set to be thrown into the blender though! I slice up the super ripe babies and spread them out on wax paper and freeze them on a cookie sheet. Then they all go into a big freezer bag for easy morning grabbing. My little Magic Bullet can’t take a full banana! Grr- I think the MB days are numbered, to be replaced by a blender/food processor.

I am hooked for life.

I’ve always been a smoothie lover, so adding spinach was a relatively easy transition! I have a huge dislike for the taste & smell of bananas, so here is my version of the Green Monster.

1/3 cup organic almond milk
1 tb agave nectar
1 scoop original Amazing Grass Amazing Meal
2 huge handfuls organic spinach
whatever fruit is in the house (today: mango & watermelon)
ice

Love it! Its my favourite part of my morning!

Steph’s Green Monster:

hi everyone!

like many of you, i began drinking green monsters after reading angela’s blog. i had never thought about adding greens to my smoothies, and thought that it would taste horrible. much to my surprise, green monsters are totally delish! i cannot go a day without drinking one… if not two of them!

my favourite combo includes 1 banana, 2 cups of organic spinach, one organic kale leaf, one cup of almond breeze and a heaping spoonful of organic roasted almond butter (i find the roasted is much more flavourful.. mmm). also, i tried frozen banana in my green monster the other day, and it was AMAZING!! i am officially hooked. try it if you haven’t already.

Madison’s Green Monster

I tried my first green monster about 3 weeks ago and have been a HUGE fan ever since! Now, if I do not drink one for a day–I feel tired and a lack of energy. The Green Monsters are a great way for me to get my veggies (spinach) in because I have never really been a huge vegetable fan. I wish I was, but I am not. The Green Monsters may look icky to outsiders but once they try them and see there is no green taste, they will be hooked like me! I have found that these smoothies have made my skin glow and my energy increase.

Here is my recipe:
1 frozen banana–slightly thawed in microwave for 15 seconds
1.5 cups almond milk
3 handfuls spinach
1 scoop Amazing Grass GreenSuperFood
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (this takes the taste of the SuperFood away)

DELICIOUS!

About seven years ago, my husband and I were eating raw foods 100% for about four years.   This is how we decided to become involved with drinking green smoothies.  There are so many wonderful benefits you can enjoy!   I love the combinations you can come up with.  Another favorites is: blueberry banana spinach!   Hubby and I have tried a lot of superfoods and the one that everyone is talking about is the best…..Amazing Grass.  We like it in the Chocolate…..delish!

Green Smoothies are the best! So easy to make and nutritious also. A great way to get your green veggies and fruits in each day. Our favorite is with Spinach and Peaches! Give it a try…you just might like it!

Green Smoothies        Serves 2-32 oz. glasses

2 cups water
2 handfuls of spinach
1 frozen banana
1 handful of frozen peaches
2 -3 T. honey

Place all in a blender and blend till smooth!      Get Healthy!

Thank you, Angie!     This is a beautiful website!

I’m a new green monster follower but always a smoothie drinker.  Added kale has made my mornings awesome!  I’m not much of a measurer so I always just wing it.

My recipe:

a few kale leaves
1 scoop of hemp hearts
some soy or almond milk
sometimes some plain yogurt
1 banana

Delicious!

Jessica’s Green Monster:

The first time I tried a green monster, I had the basic ingredients: a handful of spinach, ice, a banana, and a cup of almond milk.  It was so delicious, that I now have one every day if I can!
