The Motoamy Green Monster
This is my summer breakfast stand-by as well as a great recovery breakfast after a long night of ____ (insert escapade here). Recently I hosted a taco crawl in southeastern Connecticut and although I didn’t overdo it in terms of taco volume, I definitely ingested things my body was not used to, nor ever wants to ingest again.
Ingredients
• 1 cup of spinach
• 1/4 cup of greek yogurt (plain, non-fat)
• 1 small banana (fresh or frozen)
• 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
• 1 heaping scoop of Amazing Grass Green or Chocolate Super Food
• 1 tbsp ground flax seed
• Ice
Directions
Blend spinach, non-fat greek yogurt, banana, almond milk and Amazing Grass. Add ice and blend for about a minute. Pour and enjoy!

I was looking for the perfect post-gym green monster, and after several weeks of attempting new ingredients, I came up with the perfect protein green monster with a pumpkin twist!
Try out my Pumpkin Protein Punch Green Monster!
1 banana
1/2 cup of almond milk
2 cups of spinach
1 cup of kale
2 Tbs flax seeds
1/2 cup of pumpkin puree
1 scoop of Pure Protein powder
1 scoop of Amazing Grass Green Superfood
*Add ice & water accordingly, to allow for your preferred smoothie consistency! I also like to add a handful of organic granola to the top of my finished smoothie, just to kick it up a notch!
Hope you enjoy! 🙂

On my trip to Singapore, I was experiencing green monster withdrawals; when will someone create a travel-sized non sharp blender? Maybe a green monster revolution where everyone sports “green monsters” like people now sport Starbucks? Until then….
Anyhow. My answer to the green monster absence was the following: a daily dose of coconut water from a fresh coconut and Green Monster beer from the Red Dot brewery. The Green Monster beer is infused with spirulina!

Angela- I have been reading your blog (and other healthy living blogs) for almost a year now, and I don’t know why it’s taken me that long to try a green monster smoothie! Thanks for creating this site- it’s fun to see how many different combinations are possible! I’m a serious kale fan, so despite the reputation it has for creating “chewy” smoothies, I knew I HAD to use kale in my first one ever! No regrets!
In mine:
bunch of kale leaves
1 small banana
1/2 cup acai mango juice
1/2 cup water
a couple cubes of ice
DELISH! And, kept me going all morning!
Check out my post on it at:

I’ve been seeing green monsters on various blogs & got a rocket blender for christmas; so of course, my first smoothie type drink would be some sort of green monster!!
I made mine with papaya, frozen mango chunks, soy milk, oat bran, & spinach. It was DELICIOUS!!
I also began doing some core work I saw on the Whittle my Middle challenge & have lost 1 inch on my waist in two weeks! (in addition to cardio). I love this blog! Thanks!!!

My go-to recipe is:
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
5-6 frozen strawberries
1/2 frozen banana
and then whatever other fruit is leftover in the fridge!
1T PB2 – I just started adding this and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

Hi Angela,
I found your site the other day and it’s just fantastic. I’m about to do a month-long food challenge of eating super simply and I love smoothies, so I wanted to try out a Green Monster right away. (Also, extra bonus points for the unintentional Fenway Park/Red Sox reference.) I thought the color would be off-putting, but it was just the most lovely, brightest green. It was so delicious, I think it’s going to become part of my regular breakfast.
1/2 cup hazelnut milk
6 frozen peach slices (about 1/2 peach, I think)
1 big handful fresh raw baby spinach
