Julie’s Green Monster:
Hey Angela!
I love love love your blog and LOVE green monsters!
My recipe is simple!
1 banana
1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze
1 stevia packet
1 scoop Trader Joes Vanilla Soy Protein powder
2 GIANT handfuls of spinach
BLEND & enjoy 🙂
My story? It’s simple! I started my blog a couple of months ago Julie GoLean and the food wheels started turning! The more I read other blogger’s great posts about delicious foods, the more I wanted to try them. I started seeing Green Monsters pop up everywhere and one day I was making a protein shake after a great workout and thought “what the heck” I threw some spinach in the blender and the rest is history! I couldn’t believe that you couldn’t even taste the spinach at all! I tell all of my clients to give it a try and get SO excited when they come back telling me how much they love it. Don’t bash it till you try it 🙂 Even my mom asks for the recipe. I tell her it’s a secret 😉

Angi’s Green Monster:
I admit to being a timid GM follower. I usually keep it simple; Protein powder, chocolate soy milk, banana, and spinach.
But reading all the entries got me thinking I should move on to trying new monsters.
This monster tastes MUCH better after spending the night in the fridge!
1 cup frozen mango cubes
1 medium banana
1 scoop protein powder
1 cup vanilla soy milk
1 tsp flax oil ( or ground flaxseed)

Sara’s Green Monster:
I remember stumbling across Oh She Glows earlier this year and reading about Angela’s ‘Green Monsters’. I made one that evening when what I REALLY wanted was icecream. I was scared to try it, but to my surprise it was AMAZING and it even satisifed my craving!! I posted on Twitter something along the lines of “tried my first Green Monster today” and had a message from Angela when I logged in the next time. She congratulated me (haha!) and asked what I put in my very first GM. I immediately found myself hooked because 1) they were delicious and I felt good about drinking it … and 2) I felt like I was part of a new circle! I am definetly hooked!
The above picture is a shot of my FAVORITE GM to date. It has:
3/4 cup unsweetened Almond Breeze
3 huge handfuls spinach
4 or 5 ice cubes
2 tbsp ground flax
3/4 banana
1 tbsp almond butter

Kim’s Green Monster:
Ingredients:
2ish cups spinach
5-6 frozen strawberries
1 banana
1ish cup frozen peaches
1 tbsp almond butter
8 oz almond milk (unsweetened, organic)
Optional – 1 scoop protein powder (prefer berry)
I fell into green monsters when looking for a healthy, quick, and filling breakfast. I already loved smoothies, we actually pitched in and bought one for work. So when I saw the whole spinach in a smoothie thing on almost every blog I was reading at the time, I knew I had to try it out. I was terrified of the spinach taste, so I thew in some extra fruit to mask it. Ended up LOVING on this smoothie hardcore. I even shared with some coworkers (who thought I was insane for putting spinach in the blender to start with). This is my go to, quick, healthy breakfast and I’m SO glad I decided to go for it because researching more about it because it introduced me to Oh She Glows 🙂

Ryane’s Green Monster:
I find my green monsters to be pretty simple and straight forward – I love your challenge idea of mixing them up everyday but I haven’t gotten around to buying different ingredients to try!
Soon enough, I’ll get bored of these and will though! Haha
I’ve been steaming my spinach after that tip from your blog, and today I had almost a full bag that didn’t get touched over the weekend, so before it could go bad I just steamed it all. My roommates think I’m weeeeird. “Is that spinach? Are you putting that in the blender?” “Umm… yup!”
6 oz. spinach
1 frozen banana
Scoop of Chocolate Muscle Milk powder
Cup of water
(I was going to throw 1/4 avocado but ended up just eating it as is…. avocado is dangerous around me)
The brown powder keeps it from being too much of a bright green powder, but still showing some love to my favorite Irish pub!
I’m almost done with this protein powder and plan on going a more natural route, but it’s been taking me so long to get through this kind – never ending tub!!

Brandi’s Green Monster:
Hi Angela!
I’ve attached the picture from my favorite green monster – it’s not the best pic, but it’ll do – you can definitely tell it’s green!
My favorite combo so far is:
1 cup milk
1/2 banana (optional)
handful frozen cherries
1 Tbsp or so almond butter
2-3 cups spinach or kale
I LOVE the combination of the cherries + almond butter in the smoothie. It makes a great overall flavor.
Here’s the link to the post where I first put this one on my blog:

Although I don’t always have everything on hand to make green monsters, I do love them when I have them and they make me feel amazing!

Katie’s Green Monster
I had heard of putting spinach in smoothies before, but thanks to Angela’s blog became encouraged to begin having one every day (sometimes twice a day!). I’ve been doing so for a month now, experimenting with lots of different add-ins. It’s hard to go wrong with these smoothies! They are THAT awesome.
I’ve even completely replaced my morning coffee with GM’s and feel better than ever!
My Basic GM recipe:
3 big handfuls of spinach
1c unsweetened almond milk
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp ground flax
1 small-ish banana
1 scoop “Vege-greens”
Cantaloupe with almond butter is also FANTASTIC!
Thank you, Angela for the inspiration! I’m completely addicted! 🙂
