Anna-in-WheelThanks for the inspiration here!

On my way to teach a yoga class and thanks to your inspiration I made this shake:

In blender:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup of organic tofu
1 heaping tbsp carob powder
1 tbsp organic cocoa powder
1 cup organic baby spinach
1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries
1 cup organic vanilla rice milk
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger powder
a splash of agave nectar

Blend and enjoy sip by sip.

Perfect pre-yoga tide-me-over!

Thanks!

IMG_6549That’s right, I am attempting to join the “Green Monster” movement.  I only say attempting, because I can’t guarantee I will always remember to make sure there is spinach left in the fridge for the next days shake, but I’m going to give it my very best effort.

What the heck is a Green Monster you ask?  Well, basically, it is your normal breakfast fruit shake, but add in 2 cups of fresh spinach and 1 tbsp of flax seed.  The movement was started by Angela from Oh She Glows, and she’s Canadian!

Today was day 3 of the Green Monster for me, and while I haven’t yet noticed a difference in my energy level or the appearance of my skin, I can rest a little easier knowing that 2 cups of dark leafy greens will only do me good.

Day One’s Green Monster recipe:

1 whole banana
1 cup frozen Strawberries
1 cup 1% milk
2 cups spinach
1 tbsp flax seed

Tossed it all into the ‘Magic Bullet’ and away we go!  Outcome, actually pretty tasty.  I have been altering the recipe a little each day, to find one that I really enjoy, and I am hoping to soon find one that actually LOOKS green, not a slightly reddish drink with green bits in it.

And then share your experiences and recipe’s with me, we’ll get green together!

3-6-10-167I have always enjoyed smoothies..they were generally only fruit based. I have recently discovered green monsters and have gotten hooked for life! They have boosted my iron levels, which were always low (enemia is no fun), my energies are also up..they are addictive! I love all the wonderful combinations of greens and fruits.
My most recent recipe, which is oh so yummy is this:

3 handfuls of spinach
5 strawberries
handful of grapes
one banana
ground flaxseeds
dash of Dulse
one kiwi
2 apples
water

I’ve just started adding the dulse..
