Go-To-GM-2

Dee’s Green Monster

It’s official. I have leapt over the “green monster” cliff – I’m a green monster lemming!  Angela, you and Jen are to are to blame for my sudden fondness of something that looks like liquid lawn clippings but tastes like heaven.

As a long-time breakfast dropout, my morning “meals” usually consisting of coffee or sugar free Red Bull. I know!  Not *exactly* breakfast of champions. Or at least not of rookie runners who are trying to get back into real shape and have taken a new interest in nutrition.

I was very dubious about this green monster thingy. It looked…gross. But I figured, hey, I know I’m not getting enough fruits & veggies in my day and I seem to be able to handle sipping “breakfast” even if I can’t always face something requiring chewing.  So off the cliff I leapt.

After a few experiments, here’s my favorite go-to GM:

•1 tbs flax seed
•2 leaves kale (I strip the leaves off the ribs and discard the ribs – my blender is a wuss and keels over at the mere thought of blending up those ribs)
•a big handful of spinach (maybe 2-ish cups?)
•one banana
•a few frozen strawberries
•1 cup of Almond Breeze original

Awesome!  I have become addicted and find myself in a funk if I skip my daily GM.

Liquid lawn clippings is exactly right!

I felt the same way when I started making them but now I just feel off if I don’t have one!
