Alex‘s Green Monster
I started making my GM last fall, when I was experiencing low energy and a lot of sugar cravings. Most carbohydrate-dominant breakfasts made me feel wired and then I crashed shortly after, so I wanted to find an alternative that had a good balance of protein, vitamins, fibre, and healthy fats, and was substantial enough to keep my crazy horse metabolism satisfied until lunch.
And thus, my GM was born!!!
Concrete Jungle Juice Recipe:
1 scoop of green powder
1 scoop of protein powder
1/2 a frozen banana (you can put in a full one if you want this sweeter)
Small handful of blueberries (if you omit these, the smoothie would be green)
1 Tbsp psyllium husks
1 Tbsp flax seed oil or ground flax seed meal (you can do this in a clean coffee grinder)
1 Tbsp nut butter (almond, cashew, sunflower seed, or pumpkin seed)
1/2 to 3/4 water or Unsweetened Almond Breeze
Splash of lemon juice (optional)
Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until it all becomes, well, rather grayish…and DELICIOUS! And don’t fool yourself, this baby is a meal, and it will keep you full and satisfied for hours!
