I’ve tried green smoothies before, after a friend of a friend swore by them for better nutrition; however, her always tated kind of… well, grassy. Soemthing to do with the dandelion and random sprouts she added I suppose.
So I’ve endeavoured to make a better one, and man do frozen bananas make a difference. Here’s what I has this morning:
1/2C coconut milk
3/4C OJ, with pulp
1/2C water (More water as needed to thin mixture to desired consistency)
1Tbsp ground flax
1tsp spirulina powder
2 handfuls of fresh washed spinach
1C (roughly) frozen blueberries
1 large, frozen banana
1/2 tray of ice
Light stuff to the bottom, heavy stuff on top, add liquids and blend until it makes a bveautiful blue-green potion. This filled two 10-12oz. drink thermoses with goodness, the second of which I’m currently drinknig at work. I should be fueled up for hours!
