This morning I woke up feeling a little under the weather. I was feeling a cold coming on, so I quickly grabbed the Zicam spray and headed to the kitchen to whip up a Green Monster to hopefully kill this cold in its tracks!
Chocolate Covered Raspberry Green Monster
4 oz pineapple Chobani yogurt
1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1 tablespoon almond butter
2 cups kale
1 scoop Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion
1 cup almond milk
2-3 ice cubes
Blend in a blender until your hearts content. Pour into a glass and enjoy with a straw.

This was my first attempt at a green monster. It wasn’t green (hello, blueberries!) but it was delicious. Far too thick to drink, I opted to eat it with a spoon and sprinkle it with walnuts, turning it into a breakfast reminiscent of a sundae.
In the mix:
-1/4 avocado
-2 cups spinach
-1 raw egg (I only consume organic farm fresh eggs–use with caution)
-1/4 cup plain yogurt
-1/2 cup frozen blueberries
-1/2 cup frozen pineapple tidbits
-1 scoop Amazing Grass Superfood
Blend all togetha! If it isn’t blending well enough, add a touch of milk until it does.
Sprinkle with walnuts.
Eat with spoon in a large fancy glass. Marvel at your ability to enjoy this as you would ice cream. I pity the fool who cannot appreciate the GM

I made my first “Monster” in my (rather ancient) Magic Bullet. I lightly steamed baby spinach then added banana and organic skim milk… It looked, well, green (!) and tasted…really good!
After a few weeks of enjoying my morning Monster, Anthony started requesting them too. I quickly realised that I needed to upgrade to a new blender to cope with the demand!
We started to experiment with ingredients:
Anthony’s Green Monster Mayhem (makes 2)
* ripe banana
* cup (or two – I add more than he does) of lightly steamed spinach
* 3 scoops of chocolate protein powder
* 2-3 spoons of plain organic youghurt
* tray of ice cubes
* organic skim milk or organic soy milk

I’ve began adding protein shakes to my nutritional routine because I’ve been finding it difficult to lose weight. Over the past five years I’ve cut things out, modified, and become more organic but nothing worked and I found myself with less and less energy. In the course of my research, I came across one man who said he made his shakes with spinach. It’s now become one of my favorite drinks, so imagine my delight when I came across your Green Monster Movement. This shake is made with 2 cups pineapple juice, one banana, 1/2 cup of frozen mango chunks and a scoop of Designer Whey. I whir them together with my Cuisinart Stick which I find works much more efficiently than any blender I’ve ever owned. Oh, yes, and I do believe I have more energy when I stick to the routine of having at least one Green Monster a day.

Hi Angela,
So this is my (condensed) story… my boyfriend and I moved in together in May. We don’t necessarily eat poorly, but definitely not as good as we should. On top of that, I’ve been keeping up with his food intake and in the last 4 months, I’ve gained a good 10-15 pounds. The other day I started reading some random healthy blogs trying to get ideas and inspiration when I came across Oh She Glows and the Green Monsters. Angela, you’re very inspiring and I love the idea of the Green Monsters!
I wanted to try my own, but I’m so new to the world of whey and flax and Greek yogurt. I thought chia seeds were only used for chia pets. 🙂 So with my lack of knowledge, I kept my first Green Monster simple but delicious:
Low fat strawberry yogurt
A banana
A cup of vanilla soy milk
2 handfuls of spinach
It was awesome. I even made the boyfriend try some and he loved it! If you have any advice about chia seeds or anything else, or if you can point me in the direction of how I could learn more, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thank you!
~Kristen

I finally got a blender this week, so I finally made my very first Green Monster. I was so excited to try it. I love spinach, so I figured if everyone was wrong and you COULD taste the spinach, that would be alright with me!
I put 1/4 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, one sliced banana, one container of blueberry greek yogurt, and a 1/2 cup of POM pomegranate juice, then stuffed the blender with as much spinach as I could fit into it.
It looked scary, but it was SO good. I loved the flavor and I was full all the way until lunch. Now I’m excited to try new combinations every day!
