IMG_0579[2]Angela- I have been reading your blog (and other healthy living blogs) for almost a year now, and I don’t know why it’s taken me that long to try a green monster smoothie! Thanks for creating this site- it’s fun to see how many different combinations are possible! I’m a serious kale fan, so despite the reputation it has for creating “chewy” smoothies, I knew I HAD to use kale in my first one ever! No regrets!

In mine:

bunch of kale leaves
1 small banana
1/2 cup acai mango juice
1/2 cup water
a couple cubes of ice

DELISH! And, kept me going all morning!

Check out my post on it at:

IMG_4751I’ve been seeing green monsters on various blogs & got a rocket blender for christmas; so of course, my first smoothie type drink would be some sort of green monster!!

I made mine with papaya, frozen mango chunks, soy milk, oat bran, & spinach. It was DELICIOUS!!

I also began doing some core work I saw on the Whittle my Middle challenge & have lost 1 inch on my waist in two weeks! (in addition to cardio). I love this blog! Thanks!!!

lauraloopsGMMy go-to recipe is:
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
5-6 frozen strawberries
1/2 frozen banana
and then whatever other fruit is leftover in the fridge!
1T PB2 – I just started adding this and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

IMG_0291Hi Angela,

I found your site the other day and it’s just fantastic. I’m about to do a month-long food challenge of eating super simply and I love smoothies, so I wanted to try out a Green Monster right away. (Also, extra bonus points for the unintentional Fenway Park/Red Sox reference.) I thought the color would be off-putting, but it was just the most lovely, brightest green. It was so delicious, I think it’s going to become part of my regular breakfast.

1/2 cup hazelnut milk
6 frozen peach slices (about 1/2 peach, I think)
1 big handful fresh raw baby spinach

Green-MonsterI’ve been reading about the Green Monster on OSG for at least a year but thought it would be disgusting.  A few months back Angela shared her story of how the Green Monster got started in the first place.  I posted a comment saying that the story was so touching it actually made me CONSIDER making a Green Monster.  Well, I received a new blending device for Christmas and finally, today I made my very first Green Monster (though frankly it was more green in person than in this picture!).
Mine consisted of:
A very large handful of spinach
Some frozen blueberries, pineapple and a banana
Vanilla almond milk

I actually thought it was rather tasty and agree with others, could not taste spinach at all.  I forsee more Green Monsters in my future!  Thanks Angela!

DSC02388My favorite green monster is a simple one, so I can throw it in my vitamix before work.

2 handfuls of baby spinach, 1 can of pineapple and 1 frozen banana. Delicious!

Photo-on-2009-12-09-at-13.54I decided to take the plunge and start taking steps towards a raw diet.  I am a yoga teacher and personal trainer and need all the energy I can get to keep my body and mind strong and healthy for my business and clients.
With winter upon us and I wanted to create a green monster to help ward off colds and flu.  Kale is always one of my main ingredients as it is super charged with vitamins, calcium and antioxidants.  I added parsley for digestion and a juice blend that was made with my juicer.
FULL of vitamins and antioxidants…just in time for winter!

Winter Green Monster:
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup kale (chopped)
1/2 cup parsley
1/4 cup fresh organic beet/carrot/asian pear/celery juice
1/2 cup Basmati Brown Rice milk
1/4 teaspoon powder Vitamin Ester-C (optional)
Stevia to taste
Blend and drink!
Super charged with antioxidants and Vit C.

This is my Strawberry Green Monster recipe.  I did a blind taste test with some clients in my studio…blind as in I put it in a mug rather than a glass because I knew the colour would make them think twice.  One client said it tasted of strawberries, chocolate and banana…another could just taste strawberry.  They both were super surprised to find out what was actually in it!

Strawberry Green Monster:
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup kale (chopped)
1 cup fresh organic baby spinach
1/4 cup fresh OJ
1/2 cup Vitasoy Unsweetened soy milk
Stevia to taste
Blend and enjoy!
