Katherine’s Green Monster:
I’m not a huge banana fan. But recognizing that bananas play an important part in smoothie texture, I’ve included 1/3 of a banana, and the rest of the fruit is seasonal. Also included frozen berries instead of icecubes.
Frozen Berry Swamp Monster
1 Tbsp ground flax
2 cups organic spinach (can be steamed ahead of time)
1/3 banana
3/4 cup various fresh berries (I used blueberries and pitted cherries here)
1/2 cup frozen berries (raspberries here)
1 cup almond milk
Lovin the swamp monster. I only started them a week ago and I seriously crave them. I feel so good drinking them. Thanks for starting this up!

Nina’s Green Monster:
My recipe is:
3 cups of baby spinach
1 cup of vanilla soymilk
1 frozen banana
1/2 of a grapefruit
1 scoop of Whey Protein Powder (vanilla flavor)
Yummy! The grapefruit juice cuts the sweetness of the vanilla soymilk and the whey powder and makes it so refreshing. The whey powder thickens the green monster and makes it taste almost like a vanilla milkshake! this is one of my favorites.
I love your blogs!!! Keep it up!

Erika’s Green Monster:
I think my story is similar to a lot of others. I love making smoothies, but typically would stick to frozen fruits with some lemon juice for tartness. But as I started poking around blogs, I began noticing the Green Monsters. Completely intrigued and already won over by Green Lemonade with my juicer, I decided to jump in feet first and try one. Love at first taste! My version tastes so decadant, I feel like I am drinking a milkshake, not something healthy! I have yet to try too many different versions because I am definitely a creature of habit, but I will experiment, I promise!
(sorry no really measurements, I just dump!)
1 frozen banana
Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Breeze
1 medjool date
2 big handfuls of spinach
1/4 oats (thanks to Iowa Girl)
Almond Butter
Chia Seeds (love, love, love these)
This reminds me of a chocolate peanut butter milkshake and I fill my HUGE travel mug to the top and drink it on my long commute to work. It is better than coffee at giving me energy and fills me up until my mid morning snack!

Sayer’s Green Monster:
I am new to the Green Monster movement. At first I was skeptical. Because of the spinach? No. Because of most recipes calling for bananas! So, I began experimenting. My goal was a very simple GM that didn’t use banana, but still tasted like a ‘smoothie’ rather than a liquid salad. After a few days of tweaking ingredients, I came up with the perfect recipe for me (please forgive the crude measurements… I usually make these too early in the a.m. to bother with precise measurements).
*Two big hand fulls of spinach
*Three heaping spoon fulls of plain yogurt (I use soy yogurt)
*1 whole peach, peeled and cut into cubes
*1-2 tbs ground flaxseed
*plain soy milk or almond milk to taste
Put all ingredients in a blender and mix away! The smoothie will be naturally sweet with the tang of plain yogurt. So good!

Allison’s Green Monster:
Hi everyone! I’ve been making green monsters for a few months now. My usual/standard recipe is a big handful of baby spinach, 2-3 scoops of yogurt, blueberry-pomegranate juice, cranberry juice (I don’t really measure–probably a shot or two–2-4 ounces–of each?), and a banana. But the other day I had this delicious pineapple sitting on my counter, so I tried something new.
This one’s got:
baby spinach (large handful)
pineapple chunks (again, a handful)
large banana
And here I realized, you know, those berry juices probably aren’t quite right for this mix. So instead I added:
1 spoonful vanilla yogurt
orange juice (a good bit, again, I didn’t measure)
And, oh wow, it was delicious! Smooth and yummy, I wanted to put a little umbrella in it and drink it at the pool or on the beach!

Kelly’s Green Monster:
Hi Angela,
I love your blog and healthy approach to fitness, food and life in general. Thank you for helping to bring perspective to my life and reminding us all that it’s about enjoying the journey, not obsessing over calories eaten, burned, etc. You’ve been a blessing! 🙂
So here is my “green” monster recipe. It looks more like a pink monster but I promise the spinach is in there! 🙂 Not a fan of bananas at all, the strawberries add the shade of pink.
Recipe:
1 cup of soy milk
1 T. almond butter
1 t. agave nectar
3 fresh strawberries
Handful of frozen mangoes, papaya and strawberries (from the tropical frozen fruit pack at Costco)
A cup or two of spinach
Blend and enjoy!

Andrea’s Green Monster:
Hi Angela!
I’m super excited about this contest because I LOVE Amazing Grass products! I started drinking green monsters in May and have one for breakfast just about every day. I just love that I get a serving of vegetables first thing in the morning!
I’m actually on vacation in Block Island, Rhode Island right now and brought my Monster ingredients and blender and have been spreading the Green Monster love among my friends we’ve been vacationing with.
Here’s my monster from today – it’s one of my favorites!
In the mix :
1 cup Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla
2 cups organic spinach
1 Tablespoon Amazing Meal Original
1 Tablespoon ground flax
1 Tablespoon raw almond butter
1 small frozen banana
1/2 cup organic strawberries
It was a tasty one! Thank you for introducing me to Green Monsters! I’m spreading the movement among my friends. Now I just have to work on my husband!
